Meet PSC Tempo: A New Kind of Burn

There's a new class on the schedule at PSC, and this one brings a little something different to the mat.

Meet PSC Tempo, our newest heated core and conditioning class that combines intentional strength work with athletic intervals for a full-body workout that will have you feeling it long after you leave the studio.

If you've been looking for a way to add more cardio to your routine without giving up the intentional movement you love about PSC, this one's for you.

So, What Exactly Is PSC Tempo?

Tempo is built around two things: core strength and conditioning.

We start class on the mat with focused core work, but there's a little twist. Instead of our usual grip socks, you'll wear non-grippy socks that allow your feet to slide across the floor.

That sliding motion creates drag and resistance, challenging your core in a completely different way. Movements that might look simple suddenly require a whole lot more control, stability, and engagement.

We're talking about the kind of core work where you realize pretty quickly that small, intentional movements can be just as challenging as the big ones.

And just when you think you've found your groove, we pick up the pace.

The second portion of class brings in athletic intervals and conditioning to elevate your heart rate, challenge your endurance, and get your whole body moving. It's higher energy, a little faster, and designed to give you that satisfying post-workout feeling we all know and love.

All of this happens in a heated studio, so yes, you can expect to sweat.

Why We Created Tempo

One of the things we've always loved about PSC is that movement doesn't have to look just one way.

Some days you need the grounding, intentional movement of PSC Flow. Other days you want to turn the music up, get your heart rate going, and leave everything you've got on the mat.

And sometimes, you want a little bit of both.

That's where Tempo comes in.

We wanted to create a class that brought more athletic conditioning into our lineup while staying true to what makes the PSC Method different: intentional movement, great music, and a workout that challenges you without making you feel like you have something to prove.

Tempo gives you an opportunity to build core strength and cardiovascular endurance in the same class. It's a great complement to our other formats, especially if you're looking to add a little more variety to your weekly routine.

What Makes Tempo Different?

If you're already familiar with our classes, you might be wondering where Tempo fits in.

While Drip & Flow brings together strength, endurance, and rhythm-based movement, and Barre focuses on muscular endurance through smaller, controlled movements, Tempo leans into athletic conditioning with a dedicated focus on deep core strength.

It's not a traditional HIIT class, and it's not an entire hour of ab exercises either.

The combination of controlled core work and higher-energy intervals gives you the opportunity to challenge your body in two very different ways, all within one class.

You'll work on stability and control, then shift into movements that challenge your stamina and cardiovascular fitness.

And because it's PSC, you can count on a good playlist, plenty of encouragement, and options to make the workout your own.

A Few Things to Know Before Your First Class

First things first: non-grippy socks are required for Tempo.

We know, we're usually telling you the exact opposite! But the sliding movement is an important part of the core sequence, and traditional grip socks won't give you the same experience.

We also recommend bringing a second pair of socks to change into after class. Between the heated room and the conditioning intervals, things can get pretty sweaty.

As always, come hydrated, listen to your body, and remember that modifications are there for a reason. You don't need to move at anyone else's pace to get a great workout.

Find Your Tempo

Whether you're looking to build a stronger core, improve your endurance, or just shake up your usual class routine, we're excited to have another way for you to move with us.

Tempo is challenging, sweaty, and a whole lot of fun. It's the kind of class that reminds you how good it feels to work hard, get out of your head for a little while, and do something for yourself.

You can catch PSC Tempo on Saturdays at 9:00 AM.

Grab your non-grippy socks, book your mat, and come see what it's all about.
